How to Ensure a Safe & Secure Holiday Season
The holiday season is quickly approaching. We at Teachout Security Solutions would like to take this moment to remind you of the reason for the season. No, it is not about having parties and receiving a bunch of gifts. It is about being thankful for what you have and giving the kinds of gifts that truly matter. Be thankful if you have someone in your life who truly loves you and cares about you. Be thankful if you enjoy the gift of good health. Be thankful if you come home to a warm house, enjoy a hot meal with your family, and sleep at night in a warm bed with a feeling of safety and security.
For far too many people in our prosperous society, those things are in short supply or do not exist at all. Within 25 miles of wherever you are someone is sick, someone is unable to pay their utility bill, a child is hungry, and a young person has no hope for the future. As you take stock of all the blessings you enjoy this year, consider how you can make a positive impact in the life of someone who isn’t quite as fortunate. Yes, we all should set aside a percentage of our financial abundance for charity because society is held together by each of us lifting another’s burden. We also ask you to consider giving a portion of your time this coming year to do what you can to make a difference.
At Teachout, we support many different non-profit organizations with financial gifts. Our CEO, Joe Cozart, also sits on the board of Boys and Girls Club of Flint. We believe that the best way to ensure a safe and secure tomorrow is to give purpose, value, and hope to the young people of today. That is also why we financially support Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Young people need good role models who will teach them the value of such positive character traits as setting and achieving goals and taking personal responsibility for one’s future.
Some of our other financial gifts go to support health-related foundations that work tirelessly to ensure that the people of Michigan have access to quality health care. These are Ascension Genesys Foundation, Three Rivers Health Foundation, Sparrow Health Foundations, and McLaren Health Foundations. These great organizations make sure that the least of us are treated as well as the rest of us.
Take a few moments this holiday season to think of ways that you can make a difference in your community. You can choose to give your money and it will most certainly be appreciated, but if you choose to plant the seeds of your time, your experience, and your hopes you will find that it is certainly a gift that will keep on giving for generations to come.
